The Seafood Festival, which is always held the first weekend in October in Morehead City, NC, is much more than seafood. Ask the locals and the hundreds of visitors who make the annual trip back here and they’ll tell you it’s about tradition, about family, about being a part of the community.
From the Blessing of the Fleet to the grand finale Fireworks, this annual event is about being part of a fishing community which cares deeply about its history as well as its future. Where else can you witness a Flounder Fling, run a race over two bridges in the Twin Bridges 8K race, and watch a Sailing Regatta all in one weekend?
An added attraction this year is the arrival of the brand new fountain in downtown Morehead, featuring a 17 foot 1,400 pound statue of a Blue Marlin – just in time for the Seafood Festival!
